Nellie Ada Baynham (1883-1906)
Nellie Ada was born at Smethwick in 1883.
She died at Walsall in 1906, aged 23.
Nellie Ada was born on 19th September 1883, at 102 Oldbury Road, Smethwick where her parents Arthur William and Elizabeth were living with Elizabeth’s mother Eliza and younger siblings Thomas (16) and Louisa (14). She was baptised on 18th October 1883, at Smethwick. At this time Arthur was working as a labourer at a railway station.
By the time of the census in 1901, Nellie was now 17 and had moved out of the family home – she was working as a live-in domestic housemaid for James Bird and his young family just a few streets away at 226, Wednesbury Road, Pleck. He was a self-employed greengrocer working ‘at home’ in a corner shop.
Nellie died of tuberculosis back in the family home at 12 Oxford Street, Pleck, Walsall on 18th May 1906.
