This is an excerpt from the War Diary of the 24th Divisional Ammunition Column, Royal Field Artillery for the period September 1918 to February 1919.
When William Baynham was posted to it on 13th September 1918, the 24th Divisional Ammunition Column was at Marquaffles Farm [ near Bouvigny-Boyeffles, between Gouy-Servins and Aix-Noulette, West of Lens ] where it had been since early May.

MARQUAFFLES FARM
13th – Weather overcast with showers. 2/Lt. Dibben & 9 other ranks on forming dump in forward area. 5 G.S. Wagons on material for T. M. Batteries. 1000 rounds “A” drawn from “C” Army Dump & delivered to Calibration Range X.8.b.08. 1 horse & tip cart harness to 331 R. C. Coy. 2/Lt. G Lochwood attached to D.A.C. HQ for instruction. 1 Bdr [ presumably William Baynham? ] & 3 Gnr Reinforcements joined.
14th – Weather overcast but fine. 1 horse with tip cart harness to 331 R. C. Coy. 2 LGs to Guide at Fosse 7. 2 LGs to Guide at “Clement Baraffle Quarry” for macadam road between REBREUVE and OLHAIN. 2 LGs to Guide CHEVALIE HERSIN Railhead for macadam to HERSIN streets. 4 Indian Reinforcements joined.
15th – Fine day. 839 BX Charges collected from Summit Dump & delivered to Garden Dump. 3 boxes Tracers collected from Abby Dump & delivered to Dive Grenade Dump.
